Full Name: - Quercus fabri

Quercus fabri Hance (1869)
Infrageneric Classification
Subgenus Quercus, Section Quercus
Nomenclature Note
The epithet commemorates the collector Dr C. Fabre-Tonnerre (original protologue and Bretschneider, 1898) and is a latinization of Fabre, the French equivalent of "faber", itself the Latin word meaning "maker". This spelling is to be used under ICBN Art. 60.7 and Rec. 60C.2 and not the original "fabrei" under the provisions of Art. 60.1 & 60.11 as is seen to be done in some publications such as the World Checklist and Bibliography of Fagales (1998).
