Nomenclature Note
Originally spelled "auzandri" by Grenier & Godron (1855) and spelled "auzandrii" in the World Checklist and Bibliography of Fagales (1998). Also mispelled "auzandei", "auzandi", and "auzendi" fide A. Camus (1939). The name commemorates Joseph Benoit Auzende, born in 1802 at Toulon (Var), France and "jardinier en chef du jardin de Toulon". Spelling here corrected in accordance with ICBN Arts 60.1 and 60.11.
