| Nomenclature Note Accepted as a species by the World Checklist and Bibliography of Fagales (1998) and by Valencia-A (2004). Previously treated as a synonym of Q. xalapensis Bonpl. (1809) in this database following Romero-R (2006). Now restored at species rank following the realization that it is annual fruiting, whereas Q. xalapensis is biennial.
