Etymology:

Named by Frédéric Tournay, the present curator of the living collections at Strasbourg Botanic Garden, to commemorate Anton de Bary (1831 – 1888), the founding director of that garden.

A selection made at Strasburg Botanical Garden for its fastigiate growth. Leaf blade obovate to narrowly elliptic, 70 - 120 × c. 60 - 130 mm, base cuneate, margins moderately lobed, toothed, deepest sinuses near midleaf. Petiole 12 - 20 mm.. The original
