Etymology:

Named for Ignatz Urban (1848-1931), German (Prussian) botanist with special interest in the flora of the West Indies and historian of the Berlin Botanical Garden and Museum and initiator of its move to Berlin-Dahlem. Often styled his name "Urbanus".
