Quercus viveri Sennen, Exsicc. (Pl. Esp.) 1928: nº 6.654. (1929) is a synonym of Quercus canariensis Willd., Enum. Pl. Hort. Berol.: 975 (1809).

Etymology:

Named in honour of Darío Rumeu y Freixa, 2nd Baron of Viver, who served as Mayor of Barcelona from 1924 to 1930.

Nomenclature Note:

Sennen published this name as a species in 1929, then as a subsp. of Q. lanuginosa Thuill. (a synonym of Q. pubescens) in 1936.
